Around the world, women face an epidemic of violence in almost all spheres of life, from different actors. They experience violence in their homes, communities, schools, workplaces, streets, markets, police stations, hospitals, and so on. Violence, or the threat of it, not only causes physical and psychological harm to women, it also limits their access to and their participation in social and national development processes.
